Rugby

Quick Intro

Rugby is a fast-paced, physically engaging team sport built on running, passing, tackling, and strategic teamwork, where players work together to advance the ball and score tries. Despite its intensity, rugby is rooted in respect, discipline, and strong sportsmanship. Playing rugby with friends and family strengthens bonds through trust, communication, and shared goals while promoting fitness, resilience, and confidence. Whether it’s a casual touch rugby game or supporting each other from the sidelines, rugby brings people together, encourages inclusivity, and creates lasting memories through teamwork, camaraderie, and mutual support.

Rules of Rugby

Rugby is played with two teams trying to score points by carrying, passing, and kicking the ball down the field. The ball can only be passed backward or sideways, so teams move forward by running or kicking it ahead. The defensive team stops progress by tackling the ball carrier below the shoulders. After a tackle, play continues quickly as both teams compete for possession.

Points are scored by grounding the ball in the opponent’s in-goal area for a try or by kicking the ball through the goalposts. The game is played in two timed halves, and the team with the most points at the end wins. Rugby emphasizes teamwork, endurance, and respect, making it an exciting and physical sport that still values fair play, cooperation, and sportsmanship.

Full Swing in Prescott Arizona has batting cages, arcade games, a trampoline bungee jump, and some snack foods. The last time I played softball was in high school, so it was fun to test out my skills. This is my 12 year old, who's never played on a team, trying it out.
