For my youngest son’s birthday, we went to Meteor Crater in Winslow, AZ. The visitor’s center has cool interactive exhibits and a 4D movie to learn about meteors (moving seats, air blasts, flashing lights) which my 8 and 11 year old loved. And then going out to the meteor crater, they thought it was “cooler than I thought it was going to be!” They have three viewing areas, one up high on the edge of the crater with a scope to see areas outside the meteor crater, one with several scopes focused on different areas of interest, and one lower down to give you a little bit closer look. It was super windy and a bit chilly when we went (December).
